Meet the cREw

We began as a small group of friends from around Hobart, Tasmania with an interest in shanty and folk singing. Casual singalongs at local pubs, homes and the occasional mountain hut grew organically into a larger group of men who meet regularly to enjoy the camaraderie and fun of singing together.

As news of these sessions spread, we were asked to perform publicly at local festivals and events. The Stranded Wailers are comprised of a select group of singers from the sessions that possess an enthusiasm for singing these rollicking songs, sharing the stories behind them and importantly, are willing to step on stage!

“Come all you thoughtless young men, a warning take by me And never leave your happy homes
to sail the raging sea.”
